Graduate Women in Science is an inter-disciplinary society of scientists who encourage and support women to enter and achieve success in science through full participation in their scientific research and its applications; in the development and advancement of women; in the integration careers, personal goals, and society's needs; and by professional networking and mutual inspiration.
Current GWIS Eastern South Dakota chapter members are from Sanford Research, Sanford Health, Augustana College, Avera Research, USD, and SDSU and range from research technicians to students and faculty members.

Today, with over 1000 members and dozens of chapters spread across the globe, our organization is stronger than ever. Our National Organization, which serves as the umbrella for all of our local chapters, works hard to oversee our endowments, administer fellowships, provide professional development and networking opportunities for our members, and ensure the continuity of this accomplished organization.
